The scratch team travelled to Garforth on Friday night to take on Temple Newsam in the Semi Final of the Scratch Knockout in its Centenary year. Tricky conditions with a strong wind set it up to be a tough night. After Monday nights disappointment, being knocked out of the foursomes knockout at Wetherby, the team were determined to get back to winning ways. The team being Tom Hough, Ross Andrew and Andy Wiltshire. First out and following the usual order of Tom, Ross and Andy. Tom led the way and quickly went one up. The game continued to be nip and tuck with no putts dropping for Tom but who kept the pressure on and kicked on around the turn going on to win his match 5&4! Ross followed Tom and quickly went 2up with birdies on the first and second, with further birdies on 6 and 8 saw him go 4 up at the turn. A solid par on 12 saw Ross 5 up and would go on to win 4&3 which secured our place in the final. Last out was Andy, fresh off the back off his superb Leeds and District Seniors win in the senior championship at Cookridge and won the first 3 holes but would then lose the next three and then win the 9th with no holes being halved on the front 9. The match continued to be close but on 15 his match was conceded by his opponent with Andy 2up and in control of his match. It was a superb performance in tough conditions and a fitting end to the teams season to reach the final. Date and venue will be announced shortly and be great to see as many people there supporting as possible. Finally joining Andy, Tom and Daz, Ross makes his first appearance for the team this season at Howley Hall.
