First of all can I say its a great honour to be seniors Captain during what has been and still is a difficult time for not just golf but also the wider community. I’m sure – like me – a lot of us are hoping for some semblance of normality once we pass the opening date of 29 March 2021 and move towards the middle of this year. So far we have been contacted for two away matches on the following dates:- Howley Hall (Away) Thursday 15 April 2021 (Time TBC) Easingwold (Away) Monday 26 April 2021 (Time TBC)
Those looking at the EGU timetable will know that indoor catering services are to remain closed until Monday 17 May 2021, Outdoor catering services may open from Monday 12 April 2021, I can’t see us dining Al Fresco but hope we may get a hot drink, I’ll publish detailed information closer to both dates but for now both these early fixtures are golf only, we will have to wait a little longer to sit down for a meal, drink and tall tales with our opponents. Again looking at the EGU road map changing rooms can open from 12 April 2021 so at least we can get changed in the event of inclement weather, this is also preventing an availability list to be pinned to our seniors notice board so if you wish to play in one of the above matches please contact me by replying to this communication with both choices in order first and second and I will try and produce a team. Please remember if you play the away match you would be first choice to play the home match. The return home match against Easingwold will be in 2022. All contact numbers and fixtures are listed in the club diary – excellent value at £2.50 and available from the office. To qualify for the seniors you need to be over 50 and most importantly have paid your £1 subscription fee to myself, David Field or Peter Lawrie.
