It was with trepidation we set off for our first match of the season to Selby Golf Club, the rain had been lashing down during the night and the forecast wasn’t good! To our pleasant surprise on our arrival the sun had made an appearance which lifted our spirits somewhat . This was my first match as stand in Captain,  Russ Green having decided to take a trip to Oz to visit his family . Anyway we managed to cobble a side together thanks to John Gough who I owe a debt of gratitude for his help in organising the day and finding a couple of replacements at the last minute due to illness. Thank you John.
Unfortunately the rest of the day didn’t go as planned as we eventually lost the match 5- 1, however special thanks must go to Keith Greenaway and Alan Fisher for sparing our blushes and keeping the return fixture alive by winning their match . Roll on July and lets hope we can replicate last years return fixture by overturning a 4.1/2 -1.1/2 deficit and therefore retaining the Selby Putter .
