The Pontefract Seniors were due to play their home match against Hickleton on Thursday 15 August. Unfortunately, as many regular players were away on a golf trip, it was clear that we would struggle to make up a team.  Despite several appeals to those Seniors who do not regularly play in our matches, we were unable to field a team and the fixture was therefore cancelled. No such problems were encountered when we played at home against Howley Hall on 22 August. At the request of the Howley Hall Seniors Captain, both sides fielded a 10 man team, with 5 rather than 6 games taking place. Pontefract emerged the victors with a score of 4:1.  Having tied the away match earlier in the season, this was an overall victory for Pontefract across the home and away matches. On 27 August, we played our home match against Selby, following a 3:3 draw in the away match at the start of the season. A solid performance by our players resulted in a 5:1 victory (4 wins and 2 tied games). Our final match of the season is away at Scarthingwell on 11 September and the traditional end-of-season away day, this year at Thrybergh, takes place on 30 September.  The sheet for the away day is now up on the noticeboard and the team sheet for the Scarthingwell fixture will go up very soon. Happy golfing. Jon Fraise Seniors Captain
