On a beautiful spring morning the Seniors Team set off for Easingwold in search of their first win of the season. A warm welcome was received and following bacon sandwiches and coffee the match began. The team got off to a winning start with victory by stand-in captain John Beevers and Alf Taylor, which was followed with a win for Steve Kilbride and Carl Dickinson. Next out were Ron Scott and Keith Mitchell in what turned to be a classic. Ron and Keith were 4 up then 2 down but managed to win the last two holes for a half. Jon Wigglesworth and Graham Nunns provided another win but unfortunately the next match provided our only loss for Bernard Duffy and Damien Nelson who came up against inspired opponents. In the last match Jim Roberts and Stuart Charlesworth won to make the team score 4.1/2 – 1.1/2 to Pontefract. In addition to winning the match Pontefract was also successful in the nearest the pin competitions on the par 3s, with Jon Wigglesworth, Ron Scott and Keith Mitchell winning a bottle of wine each. Following the golf, a tasty meal was enjoyed by everybody and for all those involved it was a very enjoyable day. John Beevers (Club Vice-Captain)
