36 players attended our Annual Exchange day at Wath Golf Club yesterday in scorching September sunshine. The course once again presented a true test of golf and as always Pontefract Members took to the challenge. Due to Covid changes, this years event was shortened to 18 holes with the winning team (95 points) being, Neil Jepson, Dave Hurley, Dave Cutts and the ever sprightly veteran Brian Eeles, who also sank a monstrous putt on the 3rd, claiming one of only 2 two’s on the day; Glenn Fry claiming the other prize. Second place (91 points) Tom Stanley, Frank Highley, Stan Timmins and Mike Pointon. Third place (90points) Mr Captain, Mr Vice Captain, Brian Fisher and Robin Leese. Nearest Pin prizes claimed by Glenn Fry (3rd) and Malcolm McDermott (12th). With thanks to the team at Wath for looking after us, the meal was excellent and the service first class. These events don’t just happen so thanks to organiser Dave Cutts for his attentive detail and also for the generous donation to the Captain’s charity, the Prince of Wales Hospice.
