Andy and Ross travelled to Cookridge to take on York in the semi finals of the Yorkshire Foursomes. The course was wet and a strong breeze met the players! The Pontefract pair got off to a great start 1 up through 3 but then 3 birdies in 4 holes saw the York pair lead 2 up after 9! It was then the turn for Pontefract with Andy and Ross winning holes 10,11 and 12 to take the lead. A superb up and down on 14 saw York claw a hole back and take the match back to all square. The 16th saw Andy leave his putt agonisingly short in the jaws and York holed a 15 footer to take the lead with another birdie! Ross then burnt the edge on 17 just staying out to see the match go down the 18th, a tricky short par 4. Drama ensued; York found the water in two and Ross hit his approach shot heavy but missed the water. Ross was left a 20 footer which stopped on the lip and York holed a superb putt from a similar distance to win the match 1 up and avoid extra holes in the fast fading light! The match was played in great spirit and we wish York all the best in the final! A fantastic effort from Ross and Andy who gave everything, they will be back next year!
